So I live very close to the German border and tested the topspeed on the Autobahn.
255kmh (158mph) was indicated on the meter, which quite surprised me. Also it felt somewhat limited.

What's your experience?

Sounds about right...around 150 (corrected vs speedo) mph too speed.

Did you sense a rpm limiter, not sure but I think I read it's limited to 11300 rpm even though max power is at 9500rpm. Just wondering if it, the limiter, can be changed to 9600rpm

What altitude were you riding at? May sound stupid to some but I am at high altitude and lose around 10% compared to the coast.

Were you going uphill or downhill by any chance? This is really interesting and I wonder if you can tune to get past those barriers?

Very good! In previous owner's manuals Ducati rated a bike's max speed, but not the Supersport's.

I figured an 'indicated' theoretical max speed of approximately 157mph at a max rpm of 10,200 based on extrapolating my readings at 142mph/9200rpm. Didn't think it had the power to pull 10,200 with stock gearing, so your experience is encouraging.

And of course the rev limiter should stop it @10,200rpm although I haven't tested it myself.

I've wound my red S all the way up to 130 kph (80 mph)!!!! My speed demon days are long since behind me, but now that she's fully run in I do plan to see how she feels at 160 kph (100 mph) very soon. I seriously doubt I'll ever take her beyond that, unless I decide to do a track day one of these days.

I will check once the wind dies down. A few times I have had it up to 230km/h but the aerodynamics keep pushing the bike towards onconing traffic so I tap off. But I can feel there is still some power left in the throttle.

Maybe, but not with my fat ass in the saddle, lol!

Top speed is around 240 km/h on gps. Of course it differs where you live and circumsenses. Although not importend at all😉

Agreed. Top end speed and top end HP is not important, it's all in the mid range that counts. That's where we ride mostly. But some of us like to know what it can do. Altitude plays a major factor though.

I briefly saw 254km/h on the speedo the other day. Slightly uphill.

Splitting hairs, here, but I thought it was only 5% too high. Isn't that what the OM says?

I weigh just under 200 lbs. On a long stretch of relatively level and straight road at an altitude of about 10000 feet above sea level I reached an indicated terminal speed of 142 mph in sixth gear. The terminal speed was drag limited as the engine just wouldn't pull to red line. I am sure the high altitude played a large roll in the bike's performance.

I think his reference point was the GPS. The difference between the two being 6%.

Of course with less air density there's less drag as you go higher, but also less power because the engine can only find so much oxygen, what with the molecules being so much farther apart. :smile2:

That's still pretty good for a 200 pounder @10,000' without a compressor.

So, it's looking like we could expect a true max speed** of 150-ish at a 'standard atmosphere' of 15℃ @sea level 1013Mb...the '-ish' is still TBD.

**Not advocating top speed runs on public roads, but not opposing them either...your call. :wink2:

I cannot back it up but on the dyno I saw mine show 260km/h. That was back in the day when I was doing on going tuning
My rev limiter has been bumped on 1000rpm with the Rapid bike EVO. I haven't really paid it much attention but when I took it up to 230kph I knew there was still some left in the throttle and the way the bike was pulling. Lots of wind at the moment but in a few weeks it all goes away then I will try again. It's difficult to find a stretch of road where a top end run can be done in a big city.
